Nordisk Netværk: MovECE
2023 –
The network MovECE (Movement in Early Childhood Education) was established in 2020 and consists of eight partners in five Nordic countries.
The ambition is to promote physical activity and movement in ECEC (Early Childhood Education and Care). The network has published a study comparing five Nordic national policy documents within ECEC, and the results indicate that the requirements for movement are inadequately formulated and described (» read more here).
In the spring of 2023, the network received funding from Nordplus to continue the collaboration. The network will investigate the presence and content of movement and physical activity in ECTE (Early Childhood Teacher Education) programs in the five Nordic countries and identify best practices in teaching. This will be followed by the development of a common Nordic study module which will be applied to improve Nordic ECTE programs.
MovECE aims to produce relevant knowledge on the inclusion of movement in ECTE policy documents. It will provide practical insights and deliverables and will be disseminated to ensure comprehensive and sustainable impact. An additional ambition is to promote intercultural competence among the participants in the network.
